Activity 1.6 Discover Engineering Presentation
For the project of Activity 1.6 we were supposed to choose a discipline of engineering that we wanted to take part in, provide information on it and describe how it's involved in one or more of the Grand Challenges for Engineering. For my presentation, I chose Automotive Engineering and for the grand challenge for engineering I chose the challenge to restore and improve urban infrastructure. Below is a shareable link to my activity 1.6 presentation along with the conclusion questions for this project.

Conclusion Questions
1. What is it about engineering that is common to all disciplines of engineering? That is, what makes an engineer an engineer regardless of the work one does? An engineer is an engineer regardless of the work one does because an engineer is any person that is trained to use technological and scientific knowledge to solve practical problems that researches, develops ideas, designs solutions, and supervises and manages engineering projects and engineering is the application of mathematics and scientific principles to better or improve life. So, as long as engineer has been trained to use their knowledge to solve problems and is helping to solve problems by applying math and scientific principles then essentially that person is still an engineer.
2. Why do you think engineering has been called the stealth profession? (Hint: there are many Internet resources that address this question.) Engineering has been called the stealth profession because people don't usually see engineers at work and people don't usually think about engineers when they think about the man made world around them. This is why engineering has been called the stealth profession.
3. How is an engineer different from a scientist?
An engineer is different from a scientist because a scientist deals with only one or more of natural and physical sciences but, engineers not only deal with science but they also deal with mathematics and technology to solve real world problems. Therefore engineers are different from scientists because they are involved in technology, mathematics, and science rather than just science.
4. What interpersonal characteristics do you think are important to the success of an engineer of any discipline? The interpersonal characteristics that I think are important to the success of an engineer of any discipline are to be able to work with others, to be friendly, to be able to clearly communicate your ideas to others, and to be able to lead. I believe that these are interpersonal characteristics of an engineer because it helps you work with others on projects and be sable to communicate your ideas so that they can be made real and potentially make the world a better place.
