In Activity 6.1, my class learned how about the elements and principles of design and how these elements and principles are applied when referring to objects. My teacher had us look up five different man-made objects and describe the elements and principles of design of.

1. How are visual design principles and elements utilized in a design? The visual design principles and elements are utilized in a design to make the design seem more intense, beautiful, and unique than other designs that might be similar to it.
2. Identify a product that you feel is aesthetically pleasing. What is it about the product that you find appealing? One product that I feel is aesthetically pleasing is the Nest thermostat because it uses economy with it's sleek, modern design and because I like its font. I also like how the green leaf on the thermostat contrasts with the black of the thermostat's background.
3. Identify a product that you don’t like the appearance of and identify the visual design principles and elements that lead to this feeling. I don't like the appearance of the Bose headphones because I do not find the shape of the ear covers pleasing to eye and I do not like the emphasis that the product creates due to the size of the ear covers.
4. Identify the visual design principles and elements that were not used appropriately in some of the products shown. In neither of the products I just described was there rhythm, since there was no repeating factor in either product, and there wasn't value in either of the products I described.
